Crown Paints Champions Sustainable Building Solutions and Industry Collaboration at IQSK Annual Convention 2026

Kenya's construction industry is evolving, and conversations around quality, sustainability, infrastructure investment and long-term building performance are becoming increasingly important. These discussions took centre stage at the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK) Annual Convention 2026, where Crown Paints participated as a Platinum Sponsor.

Held at Sarova Whitesands, Mombasa, under the theme “Owning Our Space – Construction Dynamics, Infrastructure Involvement & Project Financing,” the three-day convention brought together quantity surveyors, architects, developers and other key industry professionals to exchange ideas and explore opportunities shaping Kenya's built environment.

Championing Quality and Sustainable Construction

Representing Crown Paints on Day One, Tom Oyier, Group Head of Construction Sector, delivered a presentation on “Construction Dynamics, Infrastructure Investment & Project Financing.”

His presentation highlighted the importance of looking beyond initial construction costs and prioritising durable materials, quality workmanship and sustainable building practices.

With Kenya's construction sector experiencing renewed growth, making informed material choices is increasingly important in protecting property investments and reducing long-term maintenance costs.

As Oyier emphasised, sustainable construction begins with proper planning, appropriate material specifications and quality application. These considerations help minimise waste, extend building lifespans and deliver lasting value.

Strengthening the Role of Quantity Surveyors in Infrastructure Projects

Day Two saw Crown Paints represented by Sandile Shoko, Group Quality Assurance Manager, who participated in a panel discussion titled “Quantity Surveyors in Infrastructure Projects – A Look into the Successes and Areas of Improvement.”

The discussion explored the contribution of quantity surveyors to infrastructure development, examining industry achievements, existing challenges and opportunities to improve project delivery.

The conversation also highlighted the importance of collaboration, professional expertise and effective project management in delivering successful infrastructure projects.

Connecting with Industry Leaders

The convention provided Crown Paints with an important opportunity to engage with professionals and decision-makers across the construction sector.

Among the distinguished industry leaders in attendance were IQSK President, QS Janet Chirchir, and BORAQS Chairman, Arch. Silvester Muli.

Through its Platinum Sponsorship, Crown Paints strengthened its engagement with quantity surveyors, architects, government institutions, financial institutions and other construction industry stakeholders.

Such engagements remain important in fostering partnerships, sharing technical knowledge and creating opportunities for innovative building solutions to be incorporated into construction projects.

Bringing Innovation Closer to the Built Environment

Beyond industry engagement, Crown Paints continues to expand its range of solutions to meet the evolving needs of the construction and design sectors.

The Crown Colour Visualizer provides architects, developers and homeowners with a digital platform to explore colour combinations before application, supporting more informed design decisions and helping minimise costly changes.

The company has also expanded its premium decorative offering through the Crown Italia Series, a collection of decorative finishes designed to bring greater creativity, sophistication and distinction to residential, commercial and institutional spaces.

Building Lasting Value Together

Crown Paints' participation at IQSK Annual Convention 2026 reinforces its commitment to being more than a supplier of decorative and protective coatings. Through technical expertise, product innovation and active industry engagement, the company continues to contribute to conversations around quality, sustainability and the future of Kenya's built environment.

As the construction industry continues to evolve, collaboration between manufacturers and built environment professionals will remain essential in delivering buildings and infrastructure that stand the test of time.
